Wig care guide
A good wig can last a long time if you look after it. These are general tips; always check your product page for the hair type, since human hair, blends and semi-human wigs handle heat and products differently.
Detangle gently
Use a wide-tooth comb or a wig brush. Start from the ends and work up toward the roots, holding the hair as you go so you do not pull on the cap or lace.
Wash only when needed
As a rule of thumb, wash after several wears or when the hair feels heavy with product. Use lukewarm water and a mild, sulphate-free shampoo, press the lather through the hair in a downward direction, rinse well and follow with a light conditioner on the mid-lengths and ends, keeping it off the cap and lace.
Dry naturally
Pat the wig with a towel and let it air dry on a wig stand or a wig head. Do not wring or rub it, and do not brush it while it is soaking wet.
Go easy on heat
Human hair can take low heat with a heat protectant. Semi-human and blend wigs are more sensitive, so use the lowest setting or avoid heat tools altogether. Test on a small hidden section first.
Moisturise the ends
A few drops of a light serum on the ends keeps the hair soft and shiny. Our Ludois serum is made for this. Keep products away from the lace and the glue area.
Store it properly
Keep the wig on a stand or loosely wrapped in a satin scarf or bag, away from direct sunlight and damp. Do not sleep in a wig unless you have secured and protected it, as friction causes tangles and shedding.
